Breaking news about everyone’s least favorite ‘Survivor’ winner:
(from the AP)
Hatch faces 10 charges, including tax evasion, filing a false tax return, wire fraud, bank fraud and mail fraud. U.S. Attorney Robert Clark Corrente said Hatch, 44, did not pay taxes on his “Survivor” prize, income from a radio show and rental income. The Newport resident also allegedly used donations to his charity, Horizon Bound, to cover personal expenses.

Plea bargaining broke down when Richard was unable to impress the prosecution with his spear-fishing abilities. “Showing up naked to our bargaining meetings didn’t help. In real life, there is no blurry spot.” added one of the federal prosecutors.

Richard had this to say about his charges:

“The government is playing this game very well. I see their alliance is working to their advantage. Will I win? I don’t know. I’m hoping to make it to the jury and let them decide. In the end I think it will be about who played the best game.”

Actually, in the end it will come down to who filed tax returns hiding a million dollars in income or not, who embezeled $10,000 from a charity to build onto his house, and what prison gets to see your naked body. (I just hope he doesn’t get a guest spot in Prison Break for this!)

Isn’t it wonderful to see that guy that nobody wanted to win win – and then lose more than he started with when he gets thrown in jail? I finally feel at peace with Season 1 of Survivor.
