Newsweek’s October 17th, 2005 issue features a lengthy article chronicling the history of the “Mormon Church” (known to the rest of us at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints).

The article, of general interest to member of the Church who love reading what is written about them in the media - is well written and much more positive than pieces that Newsweek has run in the past.

Here are a few things you will read in the artlcle that aren’t posted on Mormon.org but are probably already common knolwedge to you:

  • Mitt Romney, Massachusettes governor, is LDS and opposes fetal stem-cell research
  • Orrin Hatch, Utah senator, is LDS and supports it
  • Democrat senator Harry Reid is LDS
  • Mormons have horns
  • Joseph Smith had 30 wives
  • Recent DNA evidence is forcing LDS scholars to re-evaluate their idea of where the Book of Mormon took place

The whole article makes for an interesting read - but only if you have time on your hands. For some reason it took a long time to load each page on my computer. It was very slow. ymmv.
