Paintball gun manufacturer Tippmann Sports has made a new paintball gun that uses propane instead of CO2.

Why propane? Well, for starters it shoots paintballs the same distance. It will shoot 50 times more paintballs that same distance. (50,000 shots per tank for propane, compared to 1,000 for CO2). It is also cheaper. ($8 a tank for propane, compared to $250 for CO2)

The only thing that makes me wonder is the obvious flamability of propane. I wonder if you could rig up a pilot light to ignite the propane as it shoots out your barrel. Would a high-velocity stream of propane still ignite?

I’m sure you’re all going to want to watch the demo video with its mulleticious rock-and-roll soundtrack.

Oh - and don’t throw away your other paintball guns just yet. This one is a pump-action gun. Meaning: It’s not going to show up on those OLN Paintball Deathmatches anytime soon.
