Remember last summer, when the only thing really exciting was “Batman Begins”? Well, that’s not the case this summer. CNN has a list of the top new movies coming out this year, and reading the list makes me almost want to go get in line for tickets.
Here are a few of the top ones:
- Superman Returns (June 30) Anyone want to babysit?
- Mission Impossible III (May 5) (this one might turn out to suck… too soon to tell. they should have just called it “Mission Impossible II” and replaced every copy of the second one)
- X3 (May 26) They claim this is the final X-men movie in a trilogy. They probably make that claim only so they can sell boxed sets, and then in five or six years make another one.
There are tons of more movies that are coming out this summer…

Amen on Mission Impossible! What a lame sequel. Maybe if they focus on writing a script instead of setting up stunts it might be a good movie

Yeah, I’m really looking forward to Superman Returns. Rob & Marla have all the Smallville episodes - I’ve watched about 1 1/2 seasons (and will watch the rest when I have the time. So, yeah, I’m excited for Superman.
MI:3 might actually be good this time. It’s being written and directed by J.J. Abrams - otherwise known for such recent hits as Alias and Lost. (Don’t judge him from this last season of Alias, though - I don’t think he had much to do with it.) Really the only thing going against MI:3 is that Tom Cruise is still in it. Did you ever watch the old TV show? That was cool! I wish the movies would take a hint from the show - that is, they need to setup (a) cool “job(s)” with a TEAM of people (not just a one-man show).
X3 should be cool, too.
