And usually old ladies are the ones who do most of the knitting, and we all love old ladies, so why not the knitted things they make? Then I started looking on the internet for patterns of things to knit and found more than one reason why people think knitted things are tacky. There were so many that they really needed to be categorized and shared with others. Does this subvert my mission to make knitting cool and perpetuate the stereotype about knitted things? Perhaps. But some things just beg to be laughed at over the magic of the internet.
