Something no closet should be without, the “quickie dickey” (the designer’s name, not mine) can fulfill many purposes. First of all, it solves the quandry of those many times when you’ve thought, “A sweater would look so good under this t-shirt/button-up shirt/blazer/vest/other sweater/ but it would be so hot and bulky!” The quickie dickey allows you to get the look of sweater layering without the bulk.

A second benefit is for those who have always wanted to knit a sweater, but don’t have the time. A quickie dickey allows the creator/wearer to say, “Oh yeah, this, yeah, I knit this” and score huge points with their friends without going through the hassle of actually knitting an entire sweater.

  1. So does this mean that you aren’t going to make this for us?

I guess making one to wear under a T-shirt would mean really long arms…

  2. this is the best ukotw yet. there are a bunch of girls in my ward who knit all through church…maybe i can ask them to make me one of these next week during relief society.

  3. I meant to say “this is the best uktotw” instead of ukotw.

  4. I often wonder about people that bring things like knitting to church. Is it really that boring or such a waste of time just sitting there that knitting and other crafts are necessary? Maybe I’m missing something and knitting does actually help them listen, but I know for me that I have a hard time looking up scriptures with two needles and a bunch of yarn in my hands. Still, since they are doing it anyway, I think you should definitely ask someone at church to make you these, because I know most dresses would benefit from the look of a sweater under them.

  5. Maybe if I told you that these girls are also highly concerned about their astrological sign and that I live in San Francisco, it would make a difference. ha!

  6. That does clear things up a bit. I’ll be sure to look for other projects you might want to pass along to keep them busy.
