Parker Brothers has realized something. Absolutely every person on the planet who could possibly have a desire to own a copy of Monopoly has one. They are trying to drum up support for a “Here and Now Edition” of the game by letting people “vote” for places they want on the board.

Don’t get too excited. They have a bunch of crappy cities on there. Who cares if Cleveland is represented by the “Northcoast Harbor”, “Euclid Avenue” or “Jacobs Field” (apparently not very many people, since the votes are pretty evenly split on them)…

Many of the places listed are not streets at all. For instance - in Philadelphia the location in first place is the “Liberty Bell.” How the heck do you build a house on a cracked bell - let alone a hotel… And what kind of rent could you get for it if you had no house there? (”Hey, that will be $19 to sleep under my Liberty Bell”)

The only reason I’m mentioning this is because they are going to be determining which properties get which spots based on their total number of votes. In other words - don’t vote for anything but the cities that you actually care about. In this case, you care about Las Vegas (vote for “Las Vegas Boulevard”) and Boston - (vote for “Fenway Park”) - if Vegas Blvd and Fenway are the Boardwalk and Park Place of this new game…

And for all of my Minnesota readers - you may want to get a few thousand friends to go vote for Minneapolis - because you are on the fast track to being the next Baltic Avenue… (you are 10,000 votes behind many other cities)
